How to Add or Remove Photos or Videos from a Memory on iPhone

The default Photos app on your iPhone is smarter than you might realize. Beyond offering photo and video management, it features a function called Memories.

What is Memory Mix in the Photos App?
Memory Mix is a feature within the Photos app that curates collections based on events, locations, and people found in your photo library. These collections, known as Memories, highlight special moments from your photos and videos.

With the release of iOS 17, Apple has enhanced Memories by including videos alongside photos, and you can now edit these Memories to add a personal touch.

Before You Begin
To make the most of Memories, ensure the following:
1. Your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
2. For consistency across all your Apple devices, sign in to iCloud with the same Apple ID and enable iCloud Photos.

How to Add Photos and Videos to Memories
Although iOS 17 automatically creates Memories from your existing media, you can still customize them. Here’s how to add or rearrange photos and videos in Memories:

1. Open the Photos app on your iPhone.
2. Go to the “For You” tab at the bottom.
3. Tap on the Memories tile you wish to edit.
4. In the top right corner, tap the three dots.
5. From the menu that appears, select “Manage Photos.”
6. Choose the photos or videos you want to include in the Memory.
7. Tap “Done” in the top right corner to save your changes.
8. To rearrange items, tap the Grid icon in the bottom right corner, then drag and drop photos or videos to reposition them.

How to Remove Photos and Videos from Memories
If there are photos or videos you’d rather not include in a Memory, you can easily remove them:

1. Open the Photos app and navigate to the Memory you want to edit.
2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select “Manage Photos.”
3. Review the images and videos included in the Memory.
4. Deselect any photos or videos you wish to remove and tap “Done” to apply the changes.
5. Alternatively, you can long-press on a photo or video and select “Hide from Memory” to exclude it.
