How to Delete a User Profile in Windows 11

Like Windows 10, Windows 11 allows you to create multiple local user accounts, providing a personalized experience for each person using the computer. However, if you need to remove a user profile, it’s a simple process and doesn’t require any third-party software or advanced tools like CMD or PowerShell. You can delete a user profile using the Settings app, Control Panel, User Account Wizard, Advanced System Properties, or the Registry Editor.

1. Delete a User Profile via the Settings App
The easiest way to delete a user profile is through the Windows 11 Settings app. Here’s how:

1. Click the Start button and select Settings.
2. In the Settings window, go to Accounts on the left-hand side.
3. Select Family & other users on the right-hand pane.
4. Under the Other users section, locate the user profile you want to delete.
5. Click the Remove button.
6. Confirm by selecting Delete account and data.

2. Delete a User Profile via Control Panel
You can also use the Control Panel to delete a user profile. Follow these steps:

1. Open the Search bar and type Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel, click on User Accounts.

1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
2. Type netplwiz and press Enter.
3. In the User Accounts window, go to the Users tab.
4. Select the user account you wish to remove and click Remove.
5. Confirm by clicking Yes.

4. Delete a User Profile via Advanced System Properties
Windows 11’s Advanced System Properties also provides an option to manage and delete user profiles. Here’s how to use it:

1. Open the Search bar and type Advanced System Properties.
2. Select View Advanced System Settings from the search results.
3. In the System Properties window, switch to the Advanced tab.
4. Click Settings under User Profiles.
5. Choose the profile you want to delete and click Delete.

Note: If the delete option is grayed out, the user account is currently active. Switch to a different account to proceed with the deletion.

5. Delete a User Profile via the Registry Editor
For more advanced users, the Registry Editor offers another method for deleting user profiles. Follow these steps carefully:

1. Type Registry Editor in the Windows search bar and open it.
2. Navigate to the following path:
`HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList`
3. Expand the ProfileList folder and review the subfolders.
4. Locate the folder corresponding to the profile you want to delete.
5. Right-click the ProfileImagePath key and select Delete.
6. Confirm by clicking Yes.

Deleting a user profile in Windows 11 is a straightforward process with multiple options. You can choose any of these methods to remove existing profiles based on your preference or the tools available on your system. Learn More
