How to Download Google Maps Timeline Data

Google has set a deadline of December 1, 2024, after which all Timeline data stored on its servers will be deleted. If your Google Maps Timeline data is important to you, now is the ideal time to download it.

1. Open Google Chrome: Start by launching the Google Chrome web browser and navigate to the appropriate webpage.
2. Sign In: Log into your Google Account, then click on the hamburger menu in the top right corner.
3. Access Your Data: From the menu, select Your data in Maps.
4. Download Your Data: On the next screen, choose Download your Maps data.
5. Select Data to Export: In the Google Takeout interface, check the box for Location History (Timeline) and click Next step.
6. Choose Export Options: Select your export destination, frequency, and file type, then click Create Export.

After approximately 24 hours, Google will send you an email with a link to download your Google Maps Timeline data.

How to Download Google Maps Timeline Data on Your Phone

If you don’t have access to a computer, you can also download your Google Maps Timeline data directly from your phone. Here’s how:

1. Open the Google Maps App: Launch the Google Maps app on your device.
2. Access Your Data: Tap your profile picture and select Your data in Maps.
3. Download Your Data: Scroll down and tap Download your Maps data.
4. Select Data to Export: On the Google Takeout screen, check Location History (Timeline) and tap Next Step.
5. Choose Export Options: Select your destination, frequency, file type, and size, then tap Create Export.

Google will send you an email with a link to download your Maps Timeline data. Simply follow the link provided in the email.
