How to Change the System Language on Windows 11

If you accidentally selected the wrong language during the initial setup of Windows 11, or if your new laptop came with an incorrect language, you can easily change it through the Settings menu.

No matter the reason, adjusting the default language in Windows 11 is straightforward. Even if your preferred language isn’t listed in the Language settings, you can download it.

Steps to Change the System Language

1. Open Settings: Click on the Windows Start button and select Settings.

2. Navigate to Time & Language: In the Settings app, click on Time & Language.

3. Select Language & Region: On the right pane, choose Language & region.

4. Add a Language: Under the Language section, click on the Add a Language button in the Preferred languages settings.

5. Choose Your Language: A pop-up will appear; search for the language you wish to install.

6. Install the Language: Select your desired language and click Next.

7. Set as Default: If you want to make this language the default, check the Set as my Windows display language option and click Install.

8. Switch Keyboard Language: To change the keyboard language, click on the language button located at the bottom right of the taskbar, then select the language you want to use.

Changing the Default Language

Changing the default language is simple. After completing the steps above, go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region.

Click on the Sign-out button. You will see the lock screen of your PC. Log back in, and your new language will be applied.

Disabling Language Sync with Your Microsoft Account

If you prefer to use a different language on your other devices, you may want to disable the language sync feature with your Microsoft Account.

When you change your system language in Windows 11, your language preferences are synced across all devices linked to your Microsoft Account. To prevent this, follow these steps:

1. Open Settings: Launch the Settings app on your Windows 11 PC.

2. Go to Accounts: Switch to the Accounts section.

3. Access Windows Backup: On the right side, click on Windows Backup.

4. Adjust Preferences: Expand the Remember My Preferences section.

5. Uncheck Language Preferences: Uncheck the options for Language preferences and dictionary.

By following these steps, you can successfully change the default language on your Windows 11 system. Learn More
