Apple’s Siri is set to become more advanced and personalized with the upcoming Apple Intelligence update, which is expected later this year. This update will introduce a new design for Siri, featuring a glowing light around its corners.
While we wait for these exciting new features, the iOS 18 Public and Developer beta currently allows you to rename Siri using a unique method.
Can You Change Siri’s Name in iOS 18?
Although there isn’t a direct option to rename Siri in iOS 18, you can use an Accessibility feature called Vocal Shortcuts. This feature lets you create a custom phrase to launch Siri, as well as trigger other actions like taking a screenshot or turning on the flashlight.
How to Change Siri’s Name on iPhone
To rename Siri on your iPhone, you’ll need to download and install the iOS 18 Public Beta first. Once you have it set up, follow these simple steps to replace the name “Siri” with your chosen custom phrase:
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Navigate to Accessibility.
3. Scroll down to the Speech section and select Vocal Shortcuts.
4. On the Set Up Vocal Shortcuts screen, tap Continue.
5. In the Choose Action screen, select Siri from the System options.
6. You’ll be prompted to enter a custom phrase to activate Siri. Type in any phrase you’d like.
7. Repeat the phrase three times when prompted.
8. On the Action is Ready screen, tap Continue.

The Drawback of Using a Custom Phrase for Siri
While renaming Siri with a custom phrase can be fun, there is a notable drawback. When using the original command, you can say a complete phrase in one go, such as “Hey Siri, tell me a joke.” However, with Vocal Shortcuts, you will need to pause briefly after activating Siri before giving your command.
In essence, you’ll need to say the Vocal Shortcut, pause, and then issue your command to the assistant.
