How to Install Extensions in Microsoft Edge for Android

Because it supports extensions, Google Chrome is more widely used on desktops; nevertheless, Google has not indicated that it would support extensions on Android devices. Although extensions and addons are available for the Android versions of the Yandex and Firefox web browsers, their usefulness was lacking.

Users of Chrome for Android have long expressed interest in having the extension supported, but Microsoft has now developed a workaround as Google has no intentions to implement it. Microsoft just released an upgrade for Android called Edge Canary that includes support for extensions.

The Edge browser for Android now allows you to install extensions, but first you must turn on a secret Edge Flag. These are the procedures to enable and use Edge extensions if you use Edge for Android to fulfill your online browsing requirements.

How to Install Extensions in Microsoft Edge for Android
It is noteworthy that Microsoft Edge Canary version 123 offers Extension support, although the stable release does not currently have it. This is what you should do.

1. From the Google Play Store, download and install the Microsoft Edge Canary browser on your Android device.

2. Open Microsoft Edge Canary on your smartphone after installing it.

3. Type edge://flags into the address box and hit Enter.

4. To access the Edge Experiments website, use the aforementioned address. In the search bar, type “Android extension.”

5. Now click on the drop-down for Android extension and select Enabled.

6. After making the changes, tap the Restart button at the bottom of the screen.

This will enable the Android extension support on Edge for Android.

How to Add Extensions in Microsoft Edge for Android?
Now that you have enabled the Android extensions, here’s how you can install them on Edge for Android.

1. Launch the Edge Canary browser on your Android. Next, tap on the hamburger menu at the bottom right corner.

2. On the Edge menu, select All Menu.

3. Next, tap & hold the Extensions and drag it to the above section. Once done, tap on Done.

4. Open Edge menu again and tap on Extensions.

5. All of the possible extensions should now be visible to you. To install the Extension, tap the Get button next to its name.

6. Select Add from the confirmation dialog box.

There are now just three browser extensions offered in the Edge browser’s Extension Store. But Microsoft is probably going to update Edge for Android shortly with new extensions.

Although there aren’t many available, it is greatly welcomed that the Edge browser has support for extensions. learn more
