Let’s face it: we’ve all had moments where we send messages to friends asking for their location, hoping to meet up, but they either don’t reply or tell us they’re in one place and then move somewhere else, making it hard to track them down.
To make things easier, WhatsApp introduced a real-time location-sharing feature. This allows you to share your live location with your WhatsApp contacts, helping you stay updated on their whereabouts.
How to Use WhatsApp to Track a Friend’s Real-Time Location
Follow these steps to share your real-time location or ask a friend to share theirs:
1. Open WhatsApp on your Android or iOS device.
2. Go to the chat of the contact with whom you want to share your live location.
3. Tap the attachment icon (paperclip symbol).
4. From the list, select Location.
5. If prompted, grant WhatsApp access to your device’s location.
6. Choose Share live location.
7. Set the time limit for sharing your live location—options include 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 8 hours.
8. Tap Send to start sharing. You can stop sharing anytime by tapping the Stop Sharing button.

Now, your friend will be able to track your real-time location. You can also request that your friend share their live location, allowing you to track them as well.
Other Ways to Track a Friend’s Location
Besides WhatsApp, other messaging apps offer live location sharing. For instance:
Snapchat: You can easily view the live location of friends on the Snap Map.
Telegram: This app also has a similar location-sharing feature.
Additionally, there are several dedicated location-sharing apps available for Android, which allow you to check your friend’s location in real time.
By using these apps and features, you can always stay updated on your friends’ whereabouts and make meetups a lot smoother! Learn More
